Srikakulam: Meeseva centres across the state will be closed from Thursday because of the indefinite strike by their organisers and employees. The strike is in support of their demand for increase commission, issue of health cards, employment security, etc.

In the wake of increase of increase in building rents, printing, paper charges and maintenance expenditure, around 700 Meeseva centres all over the state are going on a strike.

The AP Meeseva Organisers and Employees Association served a strike notice to the government on January 3 but there has been to response yet from the state government. As a final step, the Meeseva organisers and employees have decided  to close Meeseva centres from January 17.

People will face problems in getting land documents like adangals, encumbrance certificates, passbooks , caste and income certificates, in payment of power bills and Aadhaar card changes. Officials have yet to make any alternative arrangements to deal with the situation that arises from the closure of Meeseva centres.
