Aadhaar enrollment centres shut in Srikakulam

Srikakulam: Aadhaar enrollment centres across the district were closed from Saturday, according to Joint Collector K Srinivasulu. The government taken this decision to avoid confusion among public on update of details through e-KYC (know your customer) mode.

In the wake of government guidelines for update of details of rationcard holders through e-KYC process, public rush witnessed at all Aadhaar enrollment centres across the district. Normally people can enroll their details through e-KYC at fair price shops and Mee Seva centres but due to lack of awareness, public are going to Aadhaar enrollment centres, which is leading to heavy rush.

To avoid the rush and confusion, the government closed Aadhaar enrollment centers across the district temporarily. Across the district, 20.51 lakh have ration cards, of them 18 lakh members' e-KYC details updated and remaining 1.51 lakh members are below 15 years age and their details will be updated at schools and houses through integrated child development society (ICDS) staff, the Joint Collector said. For updating of e-KYC 15 September is the last date and there is no hurdle to get ration goods even though e-KYC details are not updated.
