Vijayawada: Amaravati Mee Seva Association honorary president Manikonda Shiva Chaitanya appealed to the State government to continue civic services through 'Mee Seva centres along with village secretariats. The centres were serving the people from 8 am to 10 pm, he added.

Addressing the media at the press club in Vijayawada on Saturday, he appealed to the State government to continue with the Mee Seva centres as about 9,000 families across the State were depending on them for their livelihood. If the mee-seva centres were wound up, the employees would be thrown on the streets and they would find it difficult to find new jobs, he lamented.

The establishment of village Secretariats has created panic among the Mee Seva employees, as they were afraid that the government would scrap the Mee Seva centres. He said that the mee-seva employees were working sincerely with commitment and it would be unfair to scarp the centres.

The Mee-Seva Association president P Satya, vice-president V Vamsikrishna, secretary V Surendranath, treasurer B Vani and others were present.
