DGP Mahendar Reddy asks officials to implement weekly offs for cops

Hyderabad: Director General of Police (DGP) M Mahendar Reddy on Monday issued oral instructions to district police officials asking them to work on the feasibility of weekly offs to police personnel.

Based on his instructions, the district officials are working on the possibility of providing weekly offs to their staff in a phase wise manner.

According to reports, Warangal, Karimnagar and Nalgonda districts police officials on Monday implemented the weekly off facility to their staff.

Since the neighbouring Andhra Pradesh is implementing the weekly off system in their police department, the Telangana police department is also making efforts to implement weekly off system.

Even though the orders or instructions were given by the DGP orally, around 54,000 police personnel across the State were happy as their long-awaited demand came to reality.
