BJP loss in Telangana massive, historic

​Hyderabad: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State official spokesperson Krishna Saagar Rao said that the poll debacle in Telangana was colossal, massive and historic for the BJP. Terming that the party is all set to introspect the massive loss, here on Tuesday, he indicated there might be a complete reorganisation of the State unit to get election-ready for 2019 polls.

The party is trying to come to terms with the reality and trying to assess the massive loss since 1984, and reduced to five seats in 2014 elections, to a single member in the 119- member State legislature, he added. He said that the party is trying to figure out what had gone wrong in the run-up to 2018 Assembly elections since 2014 and feeling the need for a full reorganisation and re-engineering the party structure to make it equipped and resourceful to face the 2019 general elections. For this, the process is already on, he added. 

Terming the loss as a collective failure, Rao said that the brainstorming within the party set in motion will analyse all aspects like political, organisational, leadership, planning and strategy of the polls by the end of this week.
However, he pointed out that there was no discussion on development and "failure" of K Chandrashekar Rao-led Telangana Rashtra Samiti government in delivering poll promises.

“What happened actually was the agenda driven by KCR pitting himself against TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu. So, the only discussion that happened in this election was is it Chandrababu Naidu or KCR?” he added. KCR is politically savvy and over-smart in completely hijacking the agenda of the elections to pit Naidu against him, thereby arousing sentiments, sympathy and insecure feelings amongst people of Telangana and voters which like a wave protected his party,” he said.

The TRS won 88 seats in the Assembly elections, pushing the Congress to a distant second with 19 seats while the TDP bagged just two and BJP relegated to a single digit. The Congress had forged a pre-poll alliance with the TDP, the Telangana Jana Samiti and the Communist Party of India but the grouping came a cropper in the election, he said.
