Focus on Telangana instead of eyeing Delhi: BJP to KCR

Hyderabad: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday asked Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao to focus on the State for which he was voted into power, rather than heli-hopping with MIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi in the name of a non-starter Federal Alliance at the national level.

Addressing the media, BJP State chief spokesperson Krishna Saagar Rao said that the party congratulated the Chief Minister on his victory. But the statement made by K Chandrashekar Rao shows that he returned to his old ways again.

Both K Chandrashekar Rao and K T Rama Rao have misinterpreted the victory given to their party by claiming that it showed a direction to the country. People of the State have given a thumping majority to properly govern Telangana, to provide employment to the unemployed, to work for farmers, backward and deprive sections and to streamline the economy which is in a mess in Telangana, he said. “People voted the TRS to power asking it to look towards villages and people but not towards Delhi,” he added.

But, KCR knew that the fight in the 2019 general elections will be only between the BJP and the Congress-led alliances. “KCR is in neither of the alliances and no one at the national level are ready to believe and repose faith in him and thus his Federal Front remained a non-starter,” he said.

It was against this backdrop that KCR wanted to confuse people going along with his lone partner AIMIM, which had not gone beyond 50 kms radius in the last 50 years. Yet, the TRS chief promises to make it to the national level within five months. “We want to ask KCR, who is known to have the patience to study and make decisions, is there a regional party in the country which had never crossed beyond its boundaries to become a formidable political force at the national level?” Rao asked.

There are several parties like Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), Samajwadi Party (SP), TDP for the last 30 to 40 years. Some parties like Dravida Munnetra Kazagam (DMK) have been there for the last 100 years or so. But, what none of them could do is what KCR promises to achieve in five months, which is illogical, he added. Taking a dig at KCR, Rao said that the TRS chief could not complete the pending irrigation projects in the State, except fast-tracking one project in the last four and half years.

The Chief Minister who had delayed completion of the projects in the name of redesigning and thus escalating the project costs is lecturing on how to effectively utilise the water resources in the country. Krishna Saagar Rao asked KCR to study the constitution once again, the BJP leader criticised him for creating misunderstandings and misleading people in the name of federal spirit and federal system. India has a quasi-federal system unlike the United States of America (USA) which is a federal system and unitary system like the United Kingdom. “Even USA and UK have only one Supreme Court. Does KCR want each State in the country to have an apex court by his definition of federalism?” he questioned.

Rao said that the party chief Amit Shah is reviewing the factors leading to the defeat of the party in several States in the just concluded State Assembly elections. But the party is neither down with the defeats or boastful of its victories. “The party views the results as not a yardstick to measure for the 2019 general elections. People of the country reposing their faith in the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi led government will stage a comeback to power at the Centre in 2019 election,” he added.
