District Collector S Satyanarayana flagging off Poshan Abhiyaan awareness rally in Anantapur on Friday

Anantapur: District Collector S Sathyanarayana flagged off a rally to mark the launching of 'Poshana Abhiyaan' scheme aimed at protection of baby health for 1,000 days. The rally started from KSR Girls high-school and culminated at Tower Clock after passing through the main roads of the city.

Participating in the 'Poshana Abhiyan Mahotsav,' the Collector called upon the ICDS personnel to create awareness on the scheme and on how pregnant women can protect their health and their babys health for 1,000 days from the time of woman's delivery.

The health of mother and child is crucial during pre-natal and post-natal period. If the mother is anaemic it could lead to her death. If children up to 2 years of age are not taken care of, they will suffer with malnutrition.

If a child is not well taken care of during the first three years, they will suffer with ill health for the rest of their life, Collector Sathyanarayana exhorted. ICDS Project Director Chinmaya Devi, DMHO Dr Anil Kumar, Additional Joint Collector Subba Raju and other officials participated.
