PACE holds awareness programme on plastic ban
Ongole: A two-day awareness programme was organised to ban single use plastic carry bags by PACE Institute of Technology & Sciences in Ongole which concluded on Thursday. The programme was jointly conducted by Unnat Bharat Abhiyan, NSS, MHRD, AICTE and JNTU-K.
Addressing the students, Dr M Sridhar, secretary of PACE explained numerous hazards that plastics pose to human life on the Earth. He said plastic creates unhygienic environment and causes soil pollution.
It releases toxic chemicals and causes water pollution. Plastic is a big threat to the marine life. He suggested the students to use some alternatives like biodegradable bags made from fabrics, jute bags and canvas bags.
Dr M Sreenivasan, Principal of PACE said they displayed some slogans, posters, stickers and banners in the campus to create awareness among the students on the ban of plastics. Deans of all departments, directors, HoDs and Dr M Mallikarjun, Professor of Environmental studies took part in the programme.
