Efforts on to make Bhadradri plastic-free

Bhadrachalam: The district administration is all set to make the temple town plastic-free and taking one step in this direction, the authorities have set September 7 as the deadline for the business establishments to stop use of plastic carry bags and other items.

A meeting in this regard was held with the representatives of Chamber of Commerce and owners of business establishments here by the special officers of the Grama Panchayats and Sub-Collector of Bhadrachalam Bhavesh Mishra.

During the meeting, officials clearly told them that the order of banning the use of plastic has to be strictly followed. Awareness and publicity programmes like announcements and distribution of pamphlets among the residents of the town has been going on.

The officers and staff are explaining to the people about the dangers of using plastic and how it is harmful to the environment, and Sub-Collector of Bhadrachalam Bhavesh Mishra said.

He further said after September 7 plastic bags with fifty micron thickness will be allowed. And slowly steps to make Bhadrachalam no-plastic town will be taken.

Public has to cooperate in making the temple city plastic-free. After the deadline those who are found using banned plastic items will be fined, he added.
