Collector Conducts Spot Assessment of Students’ Learning Skills
Mahabubabad: District Collector Sneha Shabarish conducted surprise inspections at primary schools in Nainala and Parvatammagudem villages of Nellikuduru mandal on Wednesday to assess students’ academic abilities and review the implementation of government education programmes.
The Collector personally evaluated the reading, writing and mathematical skills of students under the Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) programme. She also inspected classrooms, school premises and toilet facilities, and checked attendance registers of students and teachers.
Speaking on the occasion, the Collector said the spot assessment was aimed at identifying the learning levels of students from Class II to Class V and determining the training and teaching methods required for them. She said students’ abilities were assessed through methods such as identifying pictures and answering questions based on numbers.
Ms Shabarish said FLN was being implemented to strengthen subject-wise foundational skills among students. She added that seven panel inspection teams were functioning across the district at the primary education level. These teams would regularly visit schools, assess students’ learning abilities and record the details online.
She further said special programmes such as LEAF and FLN were being implemented to improve English language skills. The Collector directed teachers to identify the learning level of every student and teach in a manner that students could easily understand. She instructed them to ensure improvement in the academic abilities of all students by the time of the next inspection.
The Collector said the government was taking special measures to provide quality education along with nutritious food to students. She said quality mid-day meals were being served in schools and a common diet menu was being strictly implemented in residential institutions. Special classes were being conducted for talented students, along with awareness programmes on health, education, nutrition and sanitation.
Ms Shabarish said special officers had been appointed to improve the attendance percentage of students and teachers in schools and residential institutions. Attendance was being reviewed continuously through the FRIS and online attendance recording systems.
Additional Collector (Local Bodies) Sriramulu, Mandal Education Officer Randas, AO Venkateswarlu, panel inspection member Yadagiri and teachers of the respective schools participated in the inspections.
