AP SEC Reviews Arrangements for MPTC and ZPTC Polls
Anil Chandra Puneetha, Andhra Pradesh SEC, has confirmed that preparations are being made for MPTC and ZPTC elections with improvement in the weather permitting polls in all areas except a few.
Puneetha has reviewed the situation today at Vijayawada with district collectors and SPs following the aftermath of the cyclone and the present weather conditions. He has emphasized on coordination between departments to conduct elections in a free and fair manner. Officials were also asked to take precautions in rain-affected areas to avoid disruption for voters and election staff.
The SEC said rainfall had eased across the state and there were no major obstacles to polling in most places.
Andhra Pradesh State Election Commission secretary Dr A. Mallikarjuna said 252,000 personnel would be deployed for polling, with a further 52,000 assigned to counting. He said arrangements in West Godavari, Guntur and Bapatla districts were receiving particular attention.
Videography inside polling stations has been permitted where circumstances require it, Mallikarjuna said. Presiding officers have been instructed to download the relevant app.
He added that Andhra Pradesh has 26.1 million voters and that the elections would be organised through detailed, micro-level planning.
