Kurnool: A State Public Health Observer Team (SPOT) of the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) inspected the Government General Hospital in Kurnool on Wednesday to assess public health programme implementation, disease surveillance mechanisms, and institutional preparedness. SPOT Consultant Dr Shruthi toured various departments, reviewing the functioning of surveillance systems and discussing strategies for the early detection and effective monitoring of communicable diseases with hospital officials.
A major focus of the visit was the Animal Bite Clinic, where she evaluated patient care facilities and management protocols for individuals reporting dog and animal bites.
During the inspection, Dr Shruthi offered targeted recommendations to further strengthen clinical surveillance and enhance healthcare delivery at the facility level.
District Surveillance Officer Vishweshwar Reddy, Epidemiologist Dr Venu Gopal, Associate Professor Dr Blessy, and ARMO Dr Sunil Prashanth accompanied the central team, providing comprehensive administrative details and ensuring full institutional cooperation throughout the review.
