Rains subside in Chinturu Agency, flood relief underway

Floods continue to plague the Chinturu Agency region of Polavaram district due to the continuing rains, even though the heavy rains have come down. People have been warned that the Sabari and Godavari rivers are still very high. The Sabari River at Chinturu measured 28.5 feet, whereas the Godavari at Kunavaram measured 30 feet.

District Collector visited the flood-affected regions using a boat, met with the affected people and found out about their problems. He ordered the authorities to supply them with basic necessities as soon as possible and undertake the relief measures. He also asked the concerned departments to file a complete report of damages caused to houses, livestock and crops in 24 hours.

The residents of the regions near the rivers have been told to be vigilant for 48 hours. The District Collector stated that the whole situation was under close observation. Authorities assured that the flood relief activities in the affected areas would be speeded up.
