Namo Drone Didi scheme opens drone jobs for women
Kurnool: The Centre’s Namo Drone Didi scheme aims to generate employment for women from self-help groups by training them in drone operations. To promote awareness of emerging technologies, Garuda Aerospace and Akhil Computers will jointly organise a drone and solar exhibition at Fun and Food Hotel near Kisan Ghat in Kurnool on Saturday.
Industries Minister TG Bharath will inaugurate the event, which seeks to familiarise women, farmers and youth with drone and solar applications. Under the scheme, women selected by MEPMA and DRDA will receive five-to-seven-day free drone training followed by certification. Substantial subsidies are available for agricultural and photography drones to support self-employment.
Drones are widely used for pesticide spraying, fertiliser application, crop monitoring and photography. Garuda Aerospace said the exhibition will highlight training opportunities for youth in agriculture, photography, surveillance and land surveys. Candidates need to have passed Class 10; courses last one to 15 days.
The company’s Remote Pilot Training Organisation offers DGCA-recognised pilot licences at a nominal fee. The event will also showcase solar solutions for homes and farms, including powering motors. Organisers said it will encourage adoption of modern technology and create awareness of entrepreneurial opportunities for women and youth.
