Brain stroke patient regains consciousness after 45 days’ treatment at Kurnool GGH

Kurnool: Reshma (18), daughter of Kaleel Basha of Gargeyapuram, who suffered a brain stroke on July 15, 2026, regained consciousness after undergoing 45 days treatment at Government General Hospital (GGH) in Kurnool. She was brought to the hospital in an intubated vegetative state following surgery and was admitted to MS-5 unit under the supervision of Prof Dr Madhavi Shyamala. The patient received intensive and comprehensive treatment in the Respiratory Intensive Care Unit (RICU), with doctors from various departments working together as part of a multidisciplinary medical team. The surgical team comprised Dr Madhavi Shyamala, Dr Chandra Reddy and Dr Karthik, while the anaesthesia team included Dr Siva Naik and Dr Murali Prabhakar.

Under GGH Superintendent Dr Venkateswarlu supervision, the patient was provided with necessary medicines and medical care, who ensured that the required medicines were available to facilitate uninterrupted treatment.

After approximately 45 days of intensive care, Reshma regained consciousness and showed significant improvement in her health. She was discharged from hospital on September 15, with doctors advising conservative management and instructing her family members to strictly follow prescribed medication and medical advice. She visited the hospital on Friday for a follow-up examination and a review of her health condition.
