Demi Moore talks about life lessons she has learned from her daughters

Hollywood actress Demi Moore has opened up about the profound influence her three daughters Rumer, Scout and Tallulah Willis have had on her life, describing them as some of her greatest teachers.

The 63-year-old actress spoke about her experience of motherhood and her personal journey during a panel discussion with Ali Larter at Step Up’s 2026 Annual Inspiration Awards in Los Angeles. She explained how her children had taught her valuable lessons of how to accept others and given her a foundation of love.

“I feel like I’ve learned from day one about acceptance, I think that the greatest gift that they have given me is a foundation of love,” Moore said while speaking about her daughters.

The actress shares Rumer, Scout and Tallulah with her former husband Hollywood star Bruce Willis. Moore admitted that her upbringing had been far from stable which made her lessons learned as a mother even more special.

“I didn’t grow up with a very stable childhood,” she said. Moore had previously spoken out about her troubled upbringing in her memoir Inside Out, admitting that her parents had struggled with alcoholism and frequently moved across the country in an effort to avoid debt collectors.

Speaking about her relationship with her daughters Moore said that their ability to accept her flaws had been one of the most beautiful experiences of her life. “And being able to have my children see and accept me for who I am, they are as always our greatest teachers, our biggest challenges, dare I say,” she said.

Moore joked that perhaps Tallulah who was in attendance at the event would be a better choice to answer questions about their relationship. “I feel like maybe it’s a fair question you could ask my daughter right here,” she added.

Moore and Bruce Willis were one of Hollywood’s most famous couples in the late 1980s and 1990s. The pair tied the knot in 1987 after a whirlwind romance and became one of the most anticipated celebrity couples in the entertainment industry.

The couple divorced in 2000 but have always remained close and continue to co-parent their three daughters. The pair have also continued to support each other through important family milestones.

Bruce Willis later married Emma Heming Willis and the pair have two daughters together. Moore has continued to be a big part of the family with the former couple maintaining a close family bond over the years.
