The price of commercial LPG cylinders has been hiked in the major cities of India from October 1, after which the price of a 19-kg cylinder rose by over ₹60 in these cities. The new increase follows the beginning of the holiday season, when restaurant, hotel and catering sales, and other commercial businesses, tend to be busier.

The price of a commercial LPG cylinder has jumped by ₹62.50 to ₹2,810 in Delhi from ₹2,747.50 in September.

Commercial LPG Prices In Major Cities

The October 1 revision has resulted in different increases depending on the city. The latest reported rates include:

- Delhi: ₹2,810, up ₹62.50

- Mumbai: ₹2,764.50, up ₹63.50

- Kolkata: ₹2,954, up ₹70

- Chennai: ₹2,983, up ₹66.50

- Bengaluru: ₹2,898, up ₹67

- Hyderabad: ₹3,065, up ₹69

- Jaipur: ₹2,839, up ₹63

- Lucknow: ₹2,932.50, up ₹62.50

- Patna: ₹3,100.50, up ₹71.50

- Thiruvananthapuram: ₹2,849, up ₹65

- Ahmedabad: ₹2,831.50

- Kanyakumari: ₹3,046

- Tawang: ₹3,073.50

Among the cities listed in the latest reports, Patna recorded the largest increase at ₹71.50. 

Domestic LPG Prices Remain Unchanged

The commercial LPG price is revised in October while the price of domestic cooking-gas cylinder of 14.2 kg is not revised.

The current domestic LPG prices reported for key cities are:

- Delhi: ₹942

- Mumbai: ₹941.50

- Kolkata: ₹968

- Chennai: ₹957.50

The unchanged domestic rates mean household consumers will not see an immediate increase in their cooking-gas bills from this particular revision. 

Commercial LPG Had Also Risen In September

The October increase follows a smaller ₹9.50 hike in September. Before that, commercial LPG prices had declined by ₹192 in August and ₹183.50 in July.

The latest increase therefore comes after a period of fluctuations in commercial cooking-gas prices. Businesses that depend heavily on LPG, particularly food-service and hospitality establishments, could see higher fuel-related operating expenses following the revision. 

ATF Prices Also Increased

Prices also were adjusted higher for aviation turbine fuel (ATF) on Oct. 1. The price rose about ₹16 per litre from ₹121 to nearly ₹137 per litre.

However, the latest fuel-price adjustment impacts the aviation industry as well, because ATF is one of the many costs incurred by the airlines.

Why LPG And ATF Prices Are Revised Monthly

Domestic fuel prices are generally reviewed on the first day of each month. The revisions reflect factors including international benchmark prices and currency movements, while local taxes can cause differences in retail prices between states and cities.

For October, the increase in commercial LPG prices coincides with the beginning of the festive period, when demand from businesses using large LPG cylinders is expected to increase.

Always love to raise the unraised matter. In a world of worries, I am always ready to come over my comfort zone and taking the step ahead of spreading awareness.
