AP SEC lifts model Code in Andhra urban areas
The Andhra Pradesh State Election Commission (SEC) has lifted the Model Code of Conduct in urban areas of Andhra Pradesh, following the conclusion of elections to municipal corporations, municipalities and nagar panchayats.
The election process for mandal parishads and zilla parishads also ended on Saturday. State Election Commissioner Anil Chandra Punetha ordered the code’s withdrawal across the state, excluding rural areas, from 10pm on the 7th of this month.
The code will remain in force in rural areas because elections to gram panchayats are still under way.
