Khammam police rescue kidnapped baby girl from Vijayawada

Khammam: Police successfully rescued the new born baby girl who was kidnapped a few days ago in the city and handed over the baby to mother Ch Ramadevi on Saturday.

Briefing the media persons on the occasion, Khammam Police Commissioner Tafseer Iqbal said Ch Ramadevi of Kandukur village in Vemsoor mandal was admitted to the head quarter hospital for the treatment of her baby girl November 10. On November 26, one Gudisela Kalyani (27), wife of Shiva, resident of Pullur village in Mylavaram mandal in Krishna district had no children.

She got abortion few days ago and she got feared about husband reaction for not having children and she decided to either purchase or abduct a baby. She contacted SK Shahanaz of Khammam with the help of Battula Rambabu. She also offered Rs 15,000 for giving baby to her.

SK Shahanaz took Kalyani to headquarters hospital on November 26 and abducted baby girl from mother Ch Ramadevi with the help of private nurse D Nagendramma, Kalyani sister D Rajani and her friend A Tirupathi Rao.

On the complaint of Ch Ramadevi, the 2 Town police registered a case under section 363 of IPC and began investigation. Police formed three teams and searched in many hospitals in Khammam and Krishna districts with the support of the CC TV footage. Police found that the accused along with baby in Vijayawada.

Finally, the police arrested all 6 persons who were involved in the abduction of the baby and brought the baby to Khammam safely on Saturday early morning from Vijayawada. The Commissioner appreciated the police staff those who made efforts to chase the case in four days. Additional CP Muralidhar, ACP PV Gamesh, 2 Town CI T Gopi and others participated.
