Consumer sensitised on their rights

Vikarabad: District Joint Collector Aruna Kumari instructed district officials to raise awareness among public on consumer rights. She spoke at an awareness program, “Timely Redressal of Consumer Cases,” held here at Collector Office on Monday, on the occasion of Consumers Day. 

Speaking on the occasion, the joint collector emphasized on the need for everyone, including children and senior citizens, to be aware of consumer rights and responsibilities. She said that consumers need to take some precautions when purchasing items to save themselves from getting deceived. She asked customers to call toll free number 1967 or 180333425 in case of any issues. 

In view of increasing adulteration in food items, customers need to take an extra care and fight against such malpractices, she said, and advised people not to get deceived by the advertisements. She promised to open a special room at Collector Office for the protection of consumer rights. Consumer can contribute through their suggestions and complaints. The room will run under the supervision of district civil supplies officer, she said, and urged the officials of agriculture department to conduct awareness campaigns to alert farmers on consumer rights.
