Scientific community must respond to societal needs and global challenges particularly to generate solutions for everyday life to answer the common issues like global warming said GITAM President M. Sribharath here on Thursday at GITAM campus. He participated in National Science day Celebrations organised by GITAM Institute of Science and inaugurated a mega science expo covering around 100 science models prepared by science students.

While addressing the gathering he observed that science is one of the most important channels of knowledge and it has a specific role, as well as a variety of functions for the benefit of our society by creating new knowledge. On the other hand, scientists must understand the problems policy-makers face and endeavour to make the results of their research relevant and comprehensible to society, he added. He observed that Science, technology and innovation must drive our pursuit of more equitable and sustainable development.

Keio University (Japan) Faculty of Science and Technology Professor Mamoru Senna delivered a distinguished lecture on Mechanochemical techniques. He said that nano-structured materials are more beneficial particularly in energy, pharmaceutical and health sectors. He briefed about technological application of mechanochemical techniques to energy storage devices.
