2 arrested for selling noxious chewing tobacco

Hyderabad: The North Zone Task Force on Monday apprehended two persons on charges of selling toxic chewing tobacco and transporting the same. The police seized 330 tins of noxious chewing tobacco worth Rs 1.5 lakh and one transporting auto trolley from the possession of the accused.

According to Task Force sleuths, on credible information they intercepted transport goods auto trolley near Begum Bazaar X road under Shahinayathgunj police station limits and arrested Shaik Parvez (28) and Mohammed Yousuf (30) while illegally transporting and selling banned tobacco to known and needy customers on high price.

Accused Shaik Parvez drives goods auto trolley for a livelihood but was unhappy with his earnings so he hatched a plan to gain easy money the illegal way. He used to transport and deliver noxious chewing tobacco, zarda, gutka products containing tobacco and nicotine as ingredients. They used to deliver to sub dealers, known and needy customers, kirana stores, pan shop vendors in and around Hyderabad and other areas for high prices and gain easy profits illegally.
