Students demand lynching of rapists
JNTU: Students of JNTU, under the banner of SFI, took out a huge rally on Monday in the campus, here, demanding immediate killing of the four accused in the case of gang rape-murder-burning of a Veternary doctor's body. They raised slogans.
Speaking later, the students criticised the police for remanding the four to custody. They asserted that if the police could not punish the accused immediately, the accused should be handed over to "us so that we can take care." The students ridiculed some statements to the effect that if the girls/women change their way of dressing such incidents would not occur. They pointed out that what was required was a change in the thinking pattern of men.
The rallyists demanded that laws providing for stringent punishment to offenders be enacted by both the Central and the State governments to check such incidents. Referring to Disha's case, the students stated that the offenders were drunk before committing the crime. "Such behavior requires attention by parents towards their children," the students said.
