Moula Ali Kaman top portion crumbles
Moula Ali: A few minutes of rainfall was enough for the 250-year-old Moula Ali Kaman to disintegrate. The kaman was restored a few years ago using lime plaster and entry of heavy vehicles too was stopped. Highly skilled workmen from Tanjavur and Mangalagiri were brought to do the job. Of late, posters and advertisements have come up on the structure.
The Kaman has an old-world charm and has been the gateway to the Moula Ali hill and is lit up every year for Milad festivities.Motorists and pedestrians spit paan or gutka through the barricades of the arch, paying no attention to the historic significance of the structure. With no one to maintain, the historic structure had been reduced to a mere insignificant gateway being utilised as any other roadside wall.
