Mahatma Gandhi Maha Sankalp Yatra begins
Malkajgiri: On the occasion of 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the district BJP president Madhavaram Kantha Rao launched the 150-km Maha Sankalp Yatra from Gandhi Park at Malkajgiri Crossroad on Tuesday.
MLC Ramachandra Rao and P Shekhar, the chief guests of the programme, started the 'yatra'. Speaking on the occasion, Ramchandra Rao said that yatra was being organised as part of BJP call to celebrate 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi by undertaking padayatra for 150 km in every parliamentary constituency.
BJP activists would visit each house and preach Mahatma Gandhi's principles and promote plastic-free India, he said. The yatra would aim to build 'Ram Rajya' as dreamt by Mahatma Gandhi, he said. It would tour seven assembly segments of the constituency for seven days and raise awareness among youth about Gandhiji's principles, he said.
Among those who participated in the programme were Anand, RK Sreenu, Vithoba, Lava Kumar, Bhanu Prakash, P Ramakrishna, Ravi Yadav, Vara Lakshmi, Rajani and others.
