Hyderabad: 3,571 drunk driving cases booked by police last week

Hyderabad: As many as 3,571 drunk driving cases were booked by the police in the Cyberabad commissionerate limits in the last week. On Sunday alone, the police registered 346 cases against those driving under the influence of alcohol.

Addressing the media, the police said that the drunk driving checks will be intensified in Cyberabad limits to prevent road accidents.

Of the total drunk driving cases registered last week, 1,814 persons were caught of the new year eve which include 931 cases under Cyberabad, 496 and 387 under Hyderabad and Rachakonda respectively. The police also seized the vehicles of those caught driving in an intoxicated state.

However, the number of persons caught during the New Year was less when compared to the last year due to the pandemic. Last year, around 2,091 persons were found violating the law.

Besides drunk driving, the police also booked 367 cases against rash driving and 237 cases of triple riding on bikes.
