Osmania University: The All-India Students' Federation (AISF) on Thursday warned that if the OU officials is failed to suspend those responsible for the alleged employment given to ineligible persons in the Educational Multimedia Research Centre (EMRC), the Vice-Chancellor would be 'gheraoed' at the July 17 convocation after a protest by the federation.

State AISF secretary Ravi Sivaramakrishna and OU unit secretary Kampalli Srinivasulu at a press conference claimed that in 14 posts filled in EMRC during the last two years 'irregular' appointments were made and that the federation had proof.

They pointed out that although the federation had submitted the proof along with a written complaint, the V-C failed to take any action so far. On the other hand, the leaders alleged, 'illegal' police cases were registered against 12 AISF members who agitated demanding removal from service of those who allegedly resorted to irregular appointments.

The student leaders demanded a comprehensive inquiry within a week into the irregular appointments and suspension of the EMRC director and removal of those who were appointed. They alleged that despite many eligible Telangana candidates had applied for the posts those from the Andhra area on the basis of fake certificates were selected.

The leaders produced Xerox copies of the fake certificates at the press conference where OU AISF president Kranthi Raj, activists Prem, Vamsi, Harish Azad, Sumanth, Babu Rao, Uday, Jimmy were present.
