Ugadi celebrated with religious fervour
Anantapur: The District Collector Veera Pandian presided over the Ugadi celebrations at the ZP Conference hall here on Saturday. Speaking on the occasion, the Collector wished the participants a happy Ugadi festival. He said that the Telugu New Year festival symbolises the end of all that is past and the dawn of everything new.
He said that the challenge in the new year is the general elections. Voters should engage in free and fair voting not falling a prey to inducements or bowing to pressures. Pandian stated that all youth, who completed 18 years of age must and should use the opportunity to vote and bring in a sea change in voting pattern.
Joint Collector Dilly Rao also called upon people to behave as responsible citizens and come out of their homes and to vote judiciously. Assistant Collector Viswanathan said that he is happy to celebrate Ugadi as an assistant collector with the people in the district. The cultural programmes of children attracted the participants. Dance performances drew every one's applause.
