Physiotherapy, best for spinal cord problems: Expert
Vijayawada: The modern lifestyle has been taking its toll on the spinal cord also along with other issues. With more time spending before the computer and on the chair, the modern man is prone to spinal cord problems.
However, the solution for these problems could be found in modern physiotherapy, says Dr Olos Gora, noted physiotherapist while addressing the health education programme at Vasavya Nursing Home here on Tuesday with Dr G Samaram in the chair.
Spinal cord problem do not have gender problem or age discrimination and it affects everyone if the sitting or standing posture is not correct, the physiotherapist said. "A sizable number of people also experience neck pain and back pain if they do not have physical exercise and sit in one posture for hours together," he said.
One should understand the proper way of sitting and standing to avoid problems to spinal cord. In case of spinal problems, in addition to the physical exercise, physiotherapy also helps to give relief.
The latest developments in the physiotherapy like radial pressure shock wave therapy would help to give relief to the patients. Through this latest technique, the chronic pain to spinal cord, neck and muscles could be cured, he said.
Dr Olos said that the shock wave would give relief to muscle spasm and bring back the spinal muscles to the normal condition. Generally, infrared rays, tractions, ultra sound waves and physical exercise are also useful to give relief to the spinal problems.
