Kurnool: 12-day Tungabhadra Pushkaralu conclude today

Many devotees turn up at Sankal Bagh pushkar ghat in Kurnool town on Monday  

Kurnool: The twelve-day Tungabhadra Pushkaralu which started on November 20, will conclude on December 1. With the nearing of 12 days fete, devotees in huge numbers are thronging the pushkar ghats to take holy dip in the holy waters. Monday being the third Karthika Somavaram of Karthika masam devotees thronged in large numbers to Sankal Bagh pushkar ghat in the town and floated deepams in the river. Due to huge turnout of devotees, the Sankal Bagh pushkar ghat wore a spiritual look.

The district administration has arranged 23 pushkar ghats at Mantralayam, Kodumur and Kurnool town. Of the 23 ghats, huge numbers of devotees were seen at Sankal Bagh in town limits, some at water pumping station near Masa Masjid, Munagala Padu and Panchalingala villages.

On the auspicious occasion, the Veda pundits have first offered Dupa Harathi and later Khumba Harati to Tungabhadra River. Nearly 450 priests were deployed at all pushkar ghats to perform pujas and pinda pradhanam. Apart from 450 priests, 10,000 government officials and 9,000 police personnel were engaged to discharge duties.

According to an official source, around 1.5 lakh devotees have visited the district from Telangana, Karnataka and Maharashtra states. Almost all devotees who were visited during the 12 days fete, have taken holy baths under the showers and also offered prayers and pinda pradhanam.

Similarly, the authorities of Srisailam temple have also organised Laksha Deepotsavam and Pushkarani Hariti on the temple premises. Many devotees participated in Laksha Deepotsavam and Pushkarani Harati.
