TDP demands high-level probe into ghat development works
Kurnool: TDP senior leader and former Minister Kalva Srinivas came down heavily on the YSRCP government for its failure to organise the sacred Tungabhadra Pushkaralu and alleged huge scam in the ghat related works. He demanded the government to constitute a high-level committee to probe into ghat related works. Addressing media at its party office here on Saturday, Kalva Srinivasulu said that Tungabhadra pushkaralu used to come once in every 12 years and the people of Hindu community consider it to be very holy.
Every Hindu wants to take a holy dip in the river as it gets rid of one's sins, he pointed out. But it is very unfortunate that the government has imposed restrictions on taking holy baths in the sacred river instead ordered shower baths or sprinkle water on their head, he said. What is the fun in arranging 23 ghats across river when devotees are not allowed into the river, questioned Kalva Srinivasulu.
He alleged that huge amount of funds was misappropriated in ghat development works and added it is nothing but to benefit its party leaders, members and contractors. At many places sewage water was mixing in the river and the Chief Minister has sprinkled the unholy water on his head, he stated.
Kalva Srinivasulu demanded the government to constitute a high-level committee to probe into funds misappropriation. He said they have collected the water samples and were sending it to the Chief Minister so that he can know the facts. The former Minister said the people were not allowed to take holy bath in the name of Covid-19 pandemic but they are allowed to enter wine shops without any restrictions.
Prior to addressing media persons, Kalva Srinivas along with party leaders, Somi Shetty Venkateshwarulu, Gowru Venkata Reddy and others visited the ghats and inspected their condition.
