The Office has become a big success in UK and then it went onto became a massive global success as US Mockumentary spiraling Steve Carell's success as comedic actor. Ricky Gervais, the original creator too became a great influence in comedy after the show became huge hit.
Now, the show came to India and Rohan Sippy, Debbie Rao became the directors of the show. We can see that they have gone with the UK version and tried to make it 'Fun'jabi loud and subtle at the same time. But their humour style works more for an office in Mumbai or Delhi than in Faridabad.
Even though performances of some of the cast is good, main lead Mukul Chadda, is written too toothlessly and even the actor seems to be confused to go for loud tone or keep it completely subtle. He tries hard to sell the lines but in order to keep the humour dry, the show tries too desperately underplay and bring British Humour to the forefront.
There have been better comedies like Office Office which had great cast from TV and Pankaj Kapoor on board. They could deliver a sharp and witty satire than just a painful, toothless show. Following their example in creating characters than lazily calling Pam, Pammi in Indian version, seems laughable at attempt than the scenes.
A show that could make careers of Steve Carell and many other actors wouldn't fail in India had it been done right. This one seems to be unable to understand what really worked in first place for the original - being true to the characters that we see daily life and presenting it with a dry sense of humour.
