Retired Employees, Teachers Seek Immediate Payment of Four DA Arrears
Mahabubabad: The Retired Employees Welfare Association (REWA) has demanded that pending Dearness Allowance (DA) arrears for four instalments be released immediately to retired employees and teachers in the district, in accordance with government orders.
Association district president Sanka Badrinaryana made the demand after representatives of the association submitted a representation to the District Education Officer and Additional Collector K. Anil Kumar.
Speaking on the occasion, Badrinaryana said that although the government had issued Government Orders for four DA instalments since 2024, some Deputy Directors, Complex Headmasters, Mandal Education Officers and other concerned officials were negligent in implementing them. He said that DA arrears due to retired employees and teachers should be released every month as per the government orders, but no action was being taken in this regard.
He also expressed concern that difference bills pertaining to the encashment of Earned Leave (ELs) were not being paid. He said it was unfortunate that despite the government issuing orders, they were not being implemented at the field level. He criticised the attitude of officials, saying it was akin to “the priest not showing mercy even when God grants a boon.”
Badrinaryana said that even after bills were sent to e-Kuber, it took more than a year for the cash to reach the beneficiaries. He said it was not proper to show further negligence towards retired employees and teachers in their old age. He urged that the situation, in which retirees had to make rounds of offices for arrears sanctioned by the government, should be ended.
Association honorary president Soma Govardhan, Kola Dargayya, Chandramouli, Muralidhara Swamy, Sunkari Venkateswarlu, Niranjan Reddy and others participated in the programme.
