The 72nd death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi was observed by various departments across erstwhile Mahbubnagar district on Thursday.
Mahbubnagar: The 72nd death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi was observed by various departments across erstwhile Mahbubnagar district on Thursday. In Wanaparthy district, the police department observed the death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi by garlanding his portrait and observing a two-minute silence.
Speaking on the occasion, Additional Superintendent of Police Shakir Husain recollected the great deeds of Mahatma Gandhi, who used non-violence and truth as his weapons to fight against the British and succeeded in getting independence to India without shedding a drop of blood.
In another programme, Wanaparthy Zilla Parishad chairman Loknath Reddy also paid tributes to Mahatma Gandhi. District Special Officer Santosh, Joint Collector Venugopal and other senior officials observed a two-minute silence in the District Collector's office.
In Gadwal district, Telangana Jagruthi district president Gangireddy Vengal Reddy, Youth Co-convenor MD Shakeel and Palamuru Adhyana Vedika district president MD Ikbal Pahsa, JAC leaders Madhusudha Babu, CPM district president Venkatswamy and NGO leaders paid tributes to Bapu. They all garlanded the statue of Gandhi and observed silence.
In Mahbubnagar district, the students and teachers of primary school in Kanapur village observed the death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and garlanded his portrait besides observing a two-minute silence.
School Teacher Shiva, Kanapur youth president Pooja Srisailam, Sarpanch Harshavardhan Reddy, ward member Siddhu and students of the school participated and remembered the movements launched by Mahatma Gandhi for country's independence.
