Now that the new DTH and TV framework of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has been put into practice, service providers are creating curated packages to meet the diverse needs of subscribers. One of them is Tata Sky, who recently presented 14 new regional plans with an initial charge of only Rs. 7 a month. Tata Sky offers are broadly classified into five categories:

The Tata Sky Curated Packages consist of 13 subcategories with multiple plans in each of them, such as Pan-India Curated Packages, Premium Packages and Intelligent Packages, among others. The Tata Sky regional packages offer plans with regional language channels for users in different regions. Add-On or Mini Packs offer multiple plans with a small number of specialized channels for sports, music, etc., while the Broadcaster Packs offer plans consisting of single-station channels.

Tata Sky NCF rates and multiple connections

In particular, Tata Sky charges a network capacity fee of Rs. 153 per month, including all taxes, for the first 100 channels selected. After that, it charges Rs. 23 per month for each slab of 25 additional channels. Tata Sky has also detailed the variable prices for multiple TV connections. So, for example, if a customer has a primary connection packet price of up to Rs. 100, then at a monthly charge of Rs. 150 the secondary connection will be available. For subscribers, those who have a primary subscription amid Rs. 101 and Rs. 200, they have to shell out Rs. 200 on its secondary connection.

Tata Sky Curated Packs

Beginning with the curated Tata Sky packages, this section has subscription plans divided into 13 categories. Here is a brief list of what you can get:

• Basic FTA package: This zero cost plan (Rs. 0 per month) includes 100 free channels in different languages divided into entertainment, news, music and other categories.

• Pan-India Curated Packages: This section will allow you to choose from 14 different plans that start at Rs. 179 per month for the Hindi Bachat plan with 31 channels, and goes up to Rs. 745 per month for the Premium Sports English HD plan that offers 134 channels and some of them provide a high definition (HD) visual experience.

• Maharashtra Curated Packages: 10 channel plans; starting at Rs. 338 per month

• Curated packages of West Bengal: 10 channel plans; starting at Rs. 334 per month

• South Basic Packs: 8 channel plans; starting at Rs. 248 per month

• South Family Kids Sports Packs: 16 channel plans; starting at Rs. 352 per month

• South Premium Packs: 8 channel plans; starting at Rs. 608 per month

• South Dual Language Basic Packages: 12 channel plans; starting at Rs.346 per month

• South dual language premium packages: 12 channel plans; starting at Rs. 691 per month

• Smart Packs: 10 channel plans; starting at Rs. 206 per month

• Curated packages of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana: 10 channel plan at a price of Rs. 199 per month

• Kerala Curated Packs: 4 channel plans; starting at Rs. 225 per month

Tata Sky Regional Packages

Tata Sky Regional Packages offer a choice from a total of 33 plans, which offer regional language channels. A total of 6 plans in the Regional Packages category have a zero subscription cost and offer up to 16 free channels. Under the paid plans, they start at Rs. 7 per month for the "Gujarati Regional" plan that offers 4 channels and goes up to Rs. 164 per month for the Tamil Regional HD package that includes 24 channels.

Tata Sky Add On / Mini Packages

The category Add On / Mini Packs of Tata Sky offers a total of 27 plans, which mostly offer a small selection of channels in a particular content class, such as sports, music, English movies and lifestyles, among others. Under this class, the "FTA English News" is a no-cost offer and gives access to 13 news channels in English.

Plans paid under this division begin at Rs. 5 per month for the Hindi news plan, which offers a total of 9 channels, while the most expensive of the group, the English HD movie plan, offers a total of 12 channels and costs Rs. 162 per month. There are also some channels whose subscription can be purchased for 4 months or 12 months at one time.

Tata Sky Broadcaster Packages

The Broadcaster Packs is essentially a category that offers plans based on channels from a single transmission network such as Star, Disney and NDTV among others. There are a total of 16 station networks to choose from, and each offers multiple plans with their own channels. Here is a brief summary of what you get:

• Star: 72 channel plans; starting at Rs. 29.50 per month

• Zee: 82 channel plans; starting at Rs. 11.8 per month

• Sony: 28 channel plans; starting at Rs. 14.16 per month

• Sun: 26 channel plans; starting at Rs. 23.60 per month

The Channels

The Channels section is where you can see the complete catalogue and the selected channels in 24 different categories, such as English movies, music and news in Hindi, among others, and pay for each channel individually. It is worth mentioning here that some channels are free, which means that subscribers can add them to their channel library without having to pay for them.

Tata Sky Flexi Annual Plan

Recently Tata Sky introduced the Flexi Annual Plan that offers an extra month of free subscription to all eligible users who will be credited to their account at the end of their 12-month period.
