Hasham, Samyukta claim double glory
Hyderabad: Mohammed Hasham, riding Kanye Kang, emerged as a double winner at the Telangana Showjumping Championship, while Samyukta Vanapalli and Captain also completed a notable double as the landmark 10-day equestrian festival concluded at Nasr Polo & Equestrian Academy here on Tuesday.
Hasham won both the 115–120 cm Open and 105–110 cm Open categories. Samyukta triumphed in the 100 cm Under-14 and 100 cm Open events. Home rider Mir Najamuddin Azam produced an impressive performance, winning the 60 cm Under-14 and Open titles with Sana and the 105–110 cm Under-14 category with Rikotta. The Telangana championship, held on September 19 and 20, featured 198 participants, with 52 prize-winning performances across 13 categories.
The wider festival brought together the Hyderabad Horse Show 2026, EFI National Qualifier for JNEC 2026 and the Telangana Showjumping Championship. Around 450 riders participated across the three events, with 120 medals awarded. Competitions ranged from 45 cm introductory classes for young riders to the demanding 115–120 cm Open category.
Other notable performers included Aizah Mir, who secured multiple placings, while Abdul Mannan and Ayaan Verma also featured prominently across their respective categories.
