Nacharam: The Shiva temple in the Nacharam division on Monday witnessed a heavy rush of devotees on the occasion of Maha Shivaratri. People started visiting them right from 5 am. The temple authorities made special arrangements, expecting the devotees in large numbers. Barricades were arranged, and drinking water was provided. Tents were erected in front of the temples to provide some relief to the visitors from summer heat.
People were seen competing with one another to perform special pujas to the Shivalingam. Volunteers were doing their best in controlling the crowd in a smooth way. Most of the temples made special arrangements to elders and physically challenged in getting hassle free darshan of the presiding deity. The centers to worship were reverberated with ‘Aumkara’ chanting by the devotees. As most of the devotees preferred to undergo fasting, rates of fruits skyrocketed.
