Hyderabad: Asserting that the Telangana State has the potential to lead the country, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday exhorted the people of the poll-bound T state to save the state, carved out of Andhra Pradesh four years ago, from the family run of TRS government headed by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao.
Addressing the public meeting at LB Stadium conducted by the BJP state unit as part of the poll campaign here, the Prime Minister took a dig at KCR for promoting his family members in the state administration. Telangana was ruined under KCR leadership as no significant development had taken place in the last four years. “First five years of the newly-born state has gone waste,” the PM said and warned the T state would lag behind on all fronts if the TRS is voted to power again. “Telangana has the power to lead India. People should think of their future generations before giving their mandate in the elections. The only right option before Telangana people is BJP which alone would ensure a bright future to the newly-born state.”
Taking a strong exception to AICC President Rahul Gandhi’s recent statement that TRS was the BJP’s B- team, Modi said that it was KCR who started his political career in Congress and did apprenticeship in TDP before floating the TRS. KCR is the natural friend of the Congress which also made similar comments that JD(S) was BJP’s B-team in Karnataka before elections. After the results, JD(S) joined Congress team, the PM maintained.
He gave a call to people to put an end to the family-run parties referring to Congress at national level and AIMIM, TDP and TRS in the Telugu states and save democracy from the threat of dynasty politics.
In a scathing attack, the Prime Minister asked KCR as to why the latter did not implement the centrally-sponsored schemes in true spirit. Telangana government rejected the Ayushman Bharat Yojana meant for poor to avail corporate medical services free of cost. Under housing scheme, only 5,000 houses were constructed under central scheme in the T state, he said. The Centre has provided Rs 30,000 crore financial assistance and another Rs 18,000 crore were given for the improvement of infrastructure, including national highways and metros for Telangana. He alleged that KCR indulged in vote-bank politics setting aside the development of the state.
Listing out the successful implementation of central schemes in the areas of housing, health and so on, the Prime Minister said that the appeasement politics adopted by the political parties mainly providing reservation on religion based are against the spirit of the Constitution. Modi enthralled the audience by initiating his speech in Telugu. He recalled the Telangana people’s struggle for separate state and the sacrifice of the Telangana martyrs.
