BJP president Amit Shah is scheduled to hold a confidential meeting with the senior leadership of the partys parent organisation Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh RSS during his oneday tour to the State on Friday
Hyderabad: BJP president Amit Shah is scheduled to hold a confidential meeting with the senior leadership of the party's parent organisation Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) during his one-day tour to the State on Friday.
According to the party sources, the meeting has been slated following a feedback of RSS that the party is yet to cover a lot of ground in Telangana if it wants to realise its dream of coming to power in the State. The feedback comes at a time when the State BJP leadership is claiming that it has so far formed 23,000 out of nearly 31,000 booth-level committees and is intensifying party activities across the State.
That apart, for the last one year the State party unit has taken up a series of programmes to highlight the problems faced by the BCs, dalits, youth, women and other sections to take on the ruling TRS. Besides, the party has also appointed full-time workers in all the parliamentary constituencies to strengthen the organisational structure as well as expand its activities.
A party leader said The Hans India: "A total of 14 parliamentary constituencies are the main focus of the party in Telangana to strengthen the organisation and its activities. Even, within the 14 LS constituencies, Chevelle, Karimnagar, Mahbubnagar, Malkajgiri, Nalgonda, Nizamabad, Warangal, Adilabad and Medak Lok Sabha constituencies are receiving keen attention."
Further, the Assembly constituencies falling under each of the identified Lok Sabha constituency are also covered as part of strengthening the party. Another senior leader said, "The 14 LS constituencies identified in Telangana are part of the 120 LS constituencies zeroed in on across the country by the party national leadership. It is to take stock of the party status in these identified parliamentary constituencies that the party national president is visiting Telangana, as part of chalking out strategy for 2019 general elections.”
The State party leadership is elated at receiving appreciation from national leaders for successfully concluding the Jana Chaitanya Yatra recently and as more programmes are taken up to expand the party reach. However, the feedback of RSS on the party situation in different constituencies and the differences within the party state unit, as well as on public perception of the party has presented a different picture to the high command.
It is against this backdrop that the BJP chief will be holding a confidential meeting with the RSS leaders to seek their inputs on how to bolster the organisation in Telangana. He will hold a meeting with the members of the committee tasked with making preparations for the 2019 general elections. Armed with the feedback provided by the parent organisation, Shah will finalise the action plan to be followed by the party state unit.
