Hyderabad: Hyderabad qualifiers for the Mercedes Trophy 2019 is all set to tee off on February 13 at the Hyderabad Golf Association, with over 180 city golfers vying for the four available National Finals qualification spots.
The Hyderabad leg will be played over two days and four winners (two each day) will make it to the National Finals scheduled in Pune between March 27 and 29 at the Oxford Golf Resort, where the 19th India edition of the country’s most prestigious corporate Golf tournament got underway on January 7.
The first five legs of qualification in Pune, Bangalore, Mumbai, Ahmedabad and Kolkata saw 20 spots being booked for the National Finals and post the sixth leg in Hyderabad, 17 more spots will be up for grabs in the remaining qualification legs.
The 19th edition of the Mercedes Trophy will travel to six more cities after Hyderabad including Delhi NCR (Gurugram and Greater Noida), Chandigarh, Jaipur and Lucknow before returning to Pune for the National Final.
Three winners of the National Finals will compete against those from tournaments played in 60 countries all over the world in the 30th edition of the Mercedes Trophy World Final in Stuttgart, Germany. Mercedes-Benz is also providing opportunity for beginners to learn golf through an exclusive Golf Clinic program.
The Mercedes Trophy, has attained social significance this year with the association of Laureus - Sport for Good Foundation.
The tournament will raise voluntary funds from the participants and same will be used to fund different programmes from Laureus and its NGOs to empower underprivileged children using the power of sport.
