A word is not kept. A promise has been forgotten. The trust is broken. Trust plays a key role in human relations. Breaking it is a crime against humanity. That is what the TDP proved by making the BJP stand public scrutiny in the highest temple of democracy – the Parliament – by moving the no-trust motion for not keeping its promise on the Special Category Status.
It could succeed in turning the nation's attention towards the ruling BJP's failures and unkept promises. No doubt, the House did not care much for Andhra Pradesh and Chandrababu Naidu's anguish. It cares less for the plight of the Telugu people. It was busy with its own agendas. Each political party had its agenda to be taken up. But then, credit must be given to Naidu for drawing the attention of the nation and every political party to the functioning style of Narendra Modi-Amit Shah combine in the country.
The whole show was, of course, marred by Congress President, Rahul Gandhi's drama baazi. That was quite unnecessary and is a sad commentary on his juvenile nature. Rahul Gandhi did not keep the decorum of the House. His 'jaadu ki jhappi' made him a fool. But, Rahul is known for his primitive responses.
Here is a residual State of Andhra Pradesh that has been destroyed by the Congress's political scheming struggling to find its moorings on a developmental ground and we have the party's president making a mockery of the no-trust move of Naidu by sidetracking the issue of SCS.
The TRS had rightly questioned the Congress on its promise of SCS to Andhra Pradesh in the event of its coming to power. Does it mean tax incentives too or not, the TRS sought to know. Rightly said. Will any of these parties tell the Telugu people whether they would get their rightful tax incentives or not? While the debate on the 'no-trust' is bound to continue till the next elections at least, today's debate drew the broad contours of the electoral campaigns of different parties in the days ahead. As for Naidu he wanted to expose the faultlines of the BJP to the nation, he succeeded in it and will continue to harp on the theme in future.
The Congress has, by deviating from the subject of implementation of AP Reorganization Act, 2014, duped the people of AP and Telangana once again by its non-serious approach. Henceforth, the consolidation of the arguments and allegations is bound to increase further and leaders would design their campaigns around the same.
Simultaneously, Naidu will have to step up his war against the BJP and take it next level. Having used the last weapon in his battle against the thankless BJP, Naidu will have to devise a strategy to keep up the steam. As has been argued in the Parliament during this motion, his efforts could be more driven by the ground realities and pin down the YSRCP and the Jana Sena as BJP's shadow boxers. There will be questions, of course, on what has the TDP achieved through the motion. Naidu knows best how to answer those.
