Filmmaker Kabir Khan praised the Zoya Akhtar directorial Gully Boy, says she has exceeded herself with the film.

‘Ek Tha Tiger” Filmmaker Kabir Khan was interacting with media on the sidelines of IIFTC Awards held in Mumbai last night.

Talking about Zoya Akhtar directorial Gully Boy starring Ranveer Singh in the lead role, Kabir Khan said, “I’d watched Gully Boy; I liked it a lot, amazing performances with a good story. Zoya Akhtar is my favourite filmmaker and with Gully Boy, she has exceeded herself”

Post Gully Boy, Actor Ranveer Singh will soon start the shooting of 83 helmed by Kabir Khan, who shared progress details about the film. He said, “The team is training. So far we have announced, Ranveer Singh as Kapil Dev, Pankaj Tripathi is playing the role of manager, Saqib Saleem is there, Hardy Sandhu is also part of the film, and he is a well-known pop-star. Ammy Virk, Jiiva and Chirag Patil is also part of the film”

“Slowly we will announce other players as well and later we will announce special cameos and appearances from the film”

Kabir Khan was honoured by IIFTC for his contribution to shooting in many different locations.

Talking about the award, Kabir said, “I think I am honoured with this because I have shot in many different places, different locations and I have showcased them in my films. So I think I am being recognized for it and been awarded. I am really happy about it because locations have been really special for me. In my films, the locations aren’t just backdrop; they are as characters, so I accept this humbly and happily”

Filmmaker Kabir Khan has shot in some of the most dangerous and difficult locations, such as Afghanistan, Burma and more.

Talking about his favorite shooting location, he said, “Actually I have travelled and shot in more than 75 different locations, for my feature films and documentaries, so it will be difficult to pick one but sometimes you do have a special connection with a location, like Afghanistan, though the shooting is not easy there. I shot my first film there, so I have this special connection with the place and apart from that Tibet and Burma, are special for me where I shot my documentaries”
