City police on Tuesday conducted an open house programme, blood donation and free health camp at Jyothy Function Hall to mark the Police martyrs commemoration to be observed on October 21. Commissioner of police D Gowtham Sawang, joint commissioner of police B Ramana Kumar, joint commissioner of police Kranti Tata Rana and other officials and staff enthusiastically participated in the open house and blood donation camp.
Commissioner of police joyfully spent time with children explaining the functioning of deadly weapons like revolvers and rifles. He also explained the functioning of police, duties and responsibilities. Children vied one another to look at the weapons and some of them took small revolvers in their hands.
Police have joyfully donated blood. Andhra hospitals and M J Naidu hospital doctors and staff participated in the health camp and conducted the health check up to the local patients.
Addressing on the occasion, the commissioner said every year police martyrs commemoration Day would be observed on October 21 in the State and the state would police conduct events like blood donation, health camps.
Sawang also inaugurated essay writing, debating, drawing and quiz competitions to the students on the occasion. The winners will be given prizes and certificates on October 21.
Several hundred children studying in various schools joyfully participated in the event. The police tried to create a friendly atmosphere and dispel the fear among the kids about the police.
