The second edition of ‘Happy Sunday’ took place amidst fun and frolic in the wee hours at MG Road near Indira Gandhi Municipal Stadium. There was a tremendous response from youngsters and seniors to the event, which is intended to bring together people of the city to celebrate and have fun.
The programme is a collaboration of Vijayawada Commissionerate, Vijayawada Municipal Corporation and Deep Trust. Under it, people are gathered at a point to indulge in healthy walk or cycling, games and sports besides a few activities that help them rejuvenate.
In association with the city’s cultural organisations, dance schools and yoga centres, several activities were lined up for the people to explore. A yoga session was performed by children to demonstrate the benefits of practicing it while some women displayed Karate punches that come handy at a time of self defense.
Children were seen moving positions while playing chess and a few of them gathered to cheer for the dancers. A meditation make shift stall was set up for people to understand meditation in a better way.
Skating, Archery, Table Tennis, Net Ball were other games that were held during the programme. VMC Commissioner G Veerapandiyan attended the event while many officers from concerned departments, organisations were also present.
