Energy special chief secretary K Vijayanand reviews the progress of PM-KUSUM feeder-level solarisation projects with discom and NREDCAP officials through a video conference in Vijayawada on Mondaya
Energy special chief secretary K Vijayanand said Andhra Pradesh has taken up 1,162.8 MW of feeder-level solarisation capacity through 228 solar power plants across the state under Component-C of the PM-KUSUM scheme.
He said that the state is targeting commissioning of 109.7 MW during September and October, aimed at strengthening renewable power generation and ensuring reliable daytime power supply to agricultural feeders. On Monday, Vijayanand reviewed the progress of the projects being implemented by APCPDCL, APEPDCL and APSPDCL, including KRECS, through a video conference with the discom CMDs, directors and NREDCAP managing director Kamalakar Babu. He directed officials and developers to expedite works and commission all projects within the stipulated timelines.
He said land acquisition had been completed for all 228 plants and instructed officials to monitor civil works, equipment procurement, financial closure and statutory documentation on a project-wise basis. He stressed the need to resolve implementation bottlenecks at the initial stage.
APCPDCL is implementing 49 plants with 191.5 MW, while APEPDCL is executing 33 plants with 220.3 MW. APSPDCL and KRECS account for the largest share, with 146 plants totalling 751 MW.
A 3 MW feeder-level solar plant at the 33 kV NN Tandra sub-station in Palnadu circle was commissioned on August 27. Another 109.7 MW is planned for commissioning during September and October.
Vijayanand said timely completion would help Andhra Pradesh secure maximum Central financial assistance under PM-KUSUM and strengthen the State’s clean-energy transition while providing quality daytime power to the agricultural sector.
