APCC sets up monitoring committee for local body polls

Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) President YS Sharmila Reddy has initiated preparations to strengthen the party and secure a majority of seats in the upcoming local body elections by constituting a 10-member State-level monitoring committee. The committee will be headed by Congress Working Committee (CWC) member N Raghuveera Reddy as chairman, while former Union Minister and APCC working president JD Seelam will serve as its convener. CWC member Gidugu Rudra Raju and former Union Ministers MM Pallam Raju and Killi Kriparani have been appointed as committee members. APCC working president Mastan Vali, former Rajya Sabha member and chief spokesperson Tulasi Reddy, and AICC members Sirivella Prasad and Gare Usha Naidu are also part of the panel. APCC spokesperson and Nellore District Congress Committee president Kiran Kumar Reddy has been appointed as the party’s PCC coordination and social media in-charge for the local body elections.

Sharmila Reddy directed the monitoring committee to work towards ensuring that the Congress wins a majority of seats in the local body elections. She asked the committee to closely monitor election-related arrangements, candidate selection and other organisational matters.

Sharmila also instructed district and city Congress presidents to coordinate with the monitoring committee on the election strategy,

selection of candidates and other related issues to ensure better coordination and strengthen the party’s electoral prospects.
