L-G inspects civic amenities in Old Delhi

New Delhi: Delhi Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu on Friday inspected civic amenities and sanitation arrangements at several locations in Old Delhi and directed officials to strengthen solid waste management, improve waste segregation and ensure cleanliness.
The inspection covered the reduce, reuse, recycle (RRR) centre near the Red Fort, the pedestrianised stretch of Chandni Chowk, the pigeon feeding point at Vijay Ghat and the integrated transit station on Bela Road, the L-G office posted on X. Highlighting the importance of maintaining civic standards, Sandhu said Old Delhi, being the city’s historic, cultural and commercial heart, deserved world-class civic standards.
He directed officials to strengthen solid waste management, ensure effective segregation of waste at source and maintain cleanliness across the inspected locations, the post said. Sandhu also stressed the need to preserve Old Delhi’s heritage while improving its civic infrastructure and public amenities.
“Preserving Old Delhi’s heritage must go hand in hand with cleaner streets, better civic amenities and a sustainable urban environment,” he said.
