Khammam: Former MLC and former BJP national co-in-charge for Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, Dr Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy criticised the Congress for questioning the Election Commission and electoral process whenever election results do not favour it.

He was speaking over phone to media here on Tuesday during which he alleged that the Congress followed a double standard by accepting the electoral system when it wins and blaming EVMs, the Election Commission and other institutions when it loses.

Reddy said the Congress was creating unnecessary doubts over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and spreading misconceptions about Forms 6 and 7.

“Merely submitting Form-7 does not automatically result in deletion of a voter’s name. Prescribed verification, notice and due process have to be followed before any decision is taken,” he said.

The BJP leader said genuine voters should have complete confidence that their voting rights would be protected, while political parties had every right to raise legitimate concerns.

“However, deliberately spreading misinformation about the Election Commission, judiciary, and electoral machinery for political gain was unacceptable,” he said.

“When Congress wins, the system is perfect; when Congress loses, the system suddenly becomes defective. The people of India can clearly see through this hypocrisy,” he said.
