BJP may absorb her; BRS forecloses option

former minister and Congress MLA Konda Surekha
Hyderabad: What could be former minister and Congress MLA Konda Surekha’s next political move? Will she remain in the Congress as its legislator and fight against Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and his government? Or, considering that she has been isolated in the party, will she join the Bharatiya Janata Party or the Bharat Rashtra Samithi?
As things stand, the opposition BRS has indicated that it has no intentions to admit Surekha into the party again. Going by speculations on Friday, a few senior BJP leaders are said to be in touch with her.
A day after her removal from the state Cabinet, the senior Congress leader and Warangal East MLA Surekha held a meeting with her aides and discussed her future course of action on the political front.
Although she previously declared that she would not quit the Congress or resign from her MLA post, her associates have been expecting the former minister to take some “important political decisions” concerning her future in politics.
As the Warangal Municipal Corporation elections are expected anytime this year, Surekha might adopt a ‘wait and watch policy’ at least for some time.
A few Congress leaders of the “CM groups” from the erstwhile Warangal district have been demanding the senior women leader to quit the MLA post and seek a fresh mandate. “It is a clear that a simmering fight between Congress leaders and Konda Surekha is inevitable in the coming days.
