TS Govt schools take part in competitions on wildlife
As a part of Wildlife Education and Awareness Programme, different educational activities were organised at Nehru Zoological Park on Friday, where students representing various government schools took part.
Bahadurpura: As a part of Wildlife Education and Awareness Programme, different educational activities were organised at Nehru Zoological Park on Friday, where students representing various government schools took part.
According to zoo authorities, schoolchildren took active part in competitions like drawing, essay-writing and quiz competitions. About 200 students from five government schools participated in various contests.
The drawing competition was conducted for three different categories, including senior, junior and sub-junior level and the topics were given as per their standards. The essay-writing and quiz competitions were conducted for higher standard students.
The programme was conducted at children's corner area from 9:30 am to 1:30 PM. This was part of preparations for the week long celebrations to be observed in the month of October under the aegis of 65th Wildlife Week Celebrations-2019.
The winners of these competitions will be declared on October 5 and the distribution of prizes will be held on October 6 marking conclusion of the week, which will be celebrated as Zoo Day.
Addressing the children, N Kshitija, Curator, Nehru Zoological Park, said that the City Zoo has always remained in the forefront of promoting wildlife and conservation awareness programmes, particularly amongst children.
She thanked all the participants for taking part in this awareness programme and making it a success. She further congratulated all the staff members of the schools and zoo who organised the programme successfully.
M Bhavani Shankar, Assistant Curator, Bhooma Laxmi Devi Kunwar, D Nagaraju, the Deputy RO, H M Hanifulla, PRO, Nehru Zoological Park, and Swetha, the ZEO, were present.
